MALE BONDING

In my head this is how good THINGY sounded while listening to them for the first time. ( yes I realize they don’t really sound alike but the enthusiasm is what we’re focusing on here) MALE BONDING is a trio from the UK that really are doing it for me right now. Plus they have a great video for YEAR’S NOT LONG where you can find out what it’s like to be part a fraternity.

FANG ISLAND is whoa super duper awemosetown, “Fang Island is so caught up in having a good time that you sometimes wonder if they’re bullshitting you”. Plus the ALMBUM ART is ruling it.

THE OCEAN FLOOR

Portland based duo THE OCEAN FLOOR has an non alienating ol timey folky feel with accapella harmonizing.

TELETHON

MAYBE NOT is a great song by TELETHON (please excuse me linking you to such a horrid background gif) who are described as psych art-punk which sounds like it was written by folks who are impressed by how unique they think they are, but this song has a non pretentious upbeat feel that is well worth checking out. Plus there’s a free download for free downloading.

OBITS

Lead singer/guitarist Rick Froberg from HOT SNAKES and DRIVE LIKE JEHU now plays in OBITS, guitar driven Rock and Roll / Surf Rock from Brooklyn. Plus he even did the amazingly cool album art for their 2009 SUB POP release I BLAME YOU.
